There’s a workshop manual on these compressors and a book for diagnosing compressor problems. Ultimately if you got junk in the discharge screen or black oil coming out the bottom drain plug it’s done. Don’t even need to run the unit to check that.

Unfortunately it’s becoming more common. Some penny pincher in corporate cut the wrong corner to save a buck.
